Representatives of the Law Society Debra Long and Tríona Lenihan visited the office of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman).

Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova, currently on a working visit to Finland, took part in the meeting online.

The guests were familiarized with the work carried out in Uzbekistan in human rights and freedoms, as well as the main areas of activity of the Ombudsman.

Representatives of the Law Society of England and Wales noted that special attention is paid to human rights and interests in Uzbekistan. They highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in this direction, and the renewed Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan enshrines norms regarding expanding the powers of the Ombudsman institution.

At the same time, the parties expressed interest in establishing cooperation.

The participants of the meeting, which took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, exchanged views on cooperation projects in the future.
