The national economy is developing steadily despite global threats
19:52 / 2023-11-30

At the 2nd Global Forum of Interparliamentary Cooperation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Tashkent, it was noted that the work carried out at the parliamentary level, and above all, the processes of improving legislation, are in harmony with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

All laws passed by Parliament are considered in terms of compliance with national goals.

Over the past two years, a parliamentary commission has analyzed the work carried out in the regions within the framework of 12 national goals, more than 70 tasks, and over 100 indicators. The results were discussed at commission meetings, information from almost 30 heads of ministries and agencies was heard, and appropriate decisions were made.

– The Bukhara Declaration, which we adopted two years ago, is entirely consistent with the UN General Assembly resolution developed on its basis on strengthening the role of parliaments in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, – says Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva. – Generally, all the country’s resources are mobilized to achieve national goals. The practical results of the Sustainable Development Goals are manifested not only at the level of republican bodies, but also across industries and sectors, regions, and mahallas.

Despite global threats, our national economy is developing steadily. Some of the main goals are increasing the population’s standard of living, supporting low-income families, and improving the quality and efficiency of education, healthcare, and other important social spheres.

Measures are being taken to ensure gender equality, which is a necessary condition for sustainable development, as well as to increase employment, provide decent work to the population, and create stable infrastructure.
