The Qoraqalpoghiston stage of the contest “The most exemplary self-governing bodies of citizens” has taken place in Nukus, north-western Uzbekistan.
The Qoraqalpoghiston stage of the contest “The most exemplary self-governing bodies of citizens” has taken place in Nukus, north-western Uzbekistan.At the event held under the slogan of “My life, my destiny – my native unique Uzbekistan”, the deputy chairman of the Zhokarghi Kenes (supreme council) of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston, O.Hamroyev, and others said that in the process of implementing socio-economic reforms under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, special attention is being paid to raising the role and significance of the mahalla (neighbourhood) institution in accordance with the principle “From a strong state to a strong civil society”.
In the Qoraqalpoghiston stage of the contest, 15 gatherings of citizens took part. They are carrying out exemplary work on ensuring a stable social and spiritual situation in localities, on strengthening families and educating young people, on safeguarding national values and ensuring the employment of women and college graduates.
In evaluating the work of the participants, special attention was paid to their knowledge of legislation and experience of resolving various issues arsing in the life of their neighbourhood.
The gathering of citizens of the “Qoraqalpoghiston” settlement of Qonqhirot District achieved first place, and it will be taking part in the republican stage of the contest.
“Issues of developing entrepreneurship, family business, village infrastructure, the population’s social security and ensuring the implementation of a programme of employment and other topical issues are always in the centre of our attention,” says the chairperson of the gathering of citizens of the “Qoraqalpoghiston” settlement, Qutli Qushimbetova.
As part of the event, there was an exhibition of products and handicrafts produced in neighbourhoods.
