The official website of the Hungarian government reported on unveiling a monument to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in the city of Lakitelek.

The monument’s unveiling ceremony, which took place on October 12 in Lakitelek, was attended by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Sándor Lezsák and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Staray.

Peter Staray emphasized that the monument’s unveiling reflects the success of the Hungarian policy of “Opening to the East”, and the constantly expanding relations between Hungary and Uzbekistan symbolize cultural and diplomatic ties.
