The Mayor of the American capital declares the 1st of September the Independence Day of Uzbekistan in Washington

The Mayor of the U.S. capital Muriel Bowser signed a Proclamation on the occasion of the celebration of the 31st Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan in Washington.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, the Proclamation announced September 1, 2022, as the “31st Anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day” in Washington, DC.

The document notes that the District of Columbia honors and celebrates the Independence Day of Uzbekistan as an important holiday, which is celebrated with displays of fireworks, concerts, competitions, parades and ceremonies. Mayor Muriel Bowser emphasizes that the District of Columbia values the rich diversity, culture and traditions of the Uzbek people.

According to the Proclamation, since its opening in 1993, the Embassy of Uzbekistan has made significant strides in bringing new dynamism to Uzbekistan – American bilateral relations and becoming an integral part of the diplomatic community in Washington, DC.
