The Mayor of New York City reviews new projects in Tashkent

A meeting between Tashkent Hokim Shavkat Umurzakov and a delegation from New York led by Mayor Eric L. Adams was held at the Tashkent City Hokimiyat.

The parties discussed current issues related to the development of major cities, exchanged experience on modernizing urban infrastructure, and reviewed promising areas of cooperation between Tashkent and New York.

The city hokim briefed the delegation on the key directions of the Tashkent Development Strategy 2030. Significant urban development and investment projects were presented, including “New Tashkent”, the creation of the “Yangi Avlod” industrial zone, and the development of new public spaces.

Reforms being implemented in Tashkent in transport systems, logistics, and public utilities were also discussed separately.

The Mayor of New York City highly praised the pace of transformations in Uzbekistan. He emphasized that the development of the Uzbekistan capital is moving in the right direction and is creating new opportunities to strengthen international cooperation.

Mayor Eric L. Adams expressed his readiness to deepen collaboration between the two cities and noted that this visit would help him become more familiar with the projects underway in Tashkent.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to begin preparing an agreement on establishing a partnership between Tashkent and New York, which will serve as a foundation for long-term cooperation in comprehensive urban development, culture, innovation, and the economy.
