08:55 / 2021-04-13

In recent years, large-scale reforms have been implemented in all spheres of Uzbekistan. In particular, laws are adopted and international documents in labor are ratified.

Uzbekistan ratified 70 international legal documents in the field of human rights, including 17 conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Paragraph 73 of the road map for the implementation of the National Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, approved by the Presidential Decree of June 22, 2020, provides for the consideration of the ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention No. 187 “Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health”.

At the roundtable discussion on “Legal foundations of occupational safety and health: problems and solutions”, held by the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Labor and Social Issues, the results of studying the possibilities of implementing the above-mentioned convention in the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed in detail.

The ILO Convention No. 187 “Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health” was adopted in 2006 at the 95th Conference of this organization. The main goal is to continuously improve occupational safety and health to prevent occupational injuries, occupational diseases and deaths at work.

The convention has already been ratified by 49 countries, including Kazakhstan and Russia.

The participants noted that Uzbekistan is ready to ratify the ILO Convention No. 187, and this will further create a foundation for strengthening the legal framework for occupational safety and health.
