An important decision was made at the International Astronautical Congress held in Sydney: the congress will take place in Samarkand in 2028. This will open a new era in the space sector not only for our country, but for all of Central Asia.

The delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan participated in the congress in Sydney, presenting a comprehensive program that showcased the country’s achievements and plans in the field of space technologies. Meetings were also held with representatives of European, Asian, and American space agencies to discuss joint projects on the application of digital technologies in space monitoring, agriculture, and environmental protection.
“Uzbekspace Agency successfully took part in this year’s International Astronautical Congress”, said Muhiddin Ibragimov, Deputy Director of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan. “Members of the International Astronautical Federation voted to hold the event in 2028 in our country. This is a great honor and responsibility for us. The congress will not only have a significant impact on Uzbekistan and the entire region, but will also inspire young people to pursue advanced studies in mathematics, technology, and engineering, and dream of conquering space”.
The congress held in Sydney contributed nearly $27 million to the Australian economy. More than 10,000 foreign guests are expected to arrive in Samarkand, which is expected to have a positive impact on tourism, services, and entrepreneurship. Hosting this important event is also vivid evidence that Uzbekistan’s aerospace policy and scientific potential are being recognized at the international level.
