On February 8-9, the 4th International Symposium “Alisher Navoi and the Eastern Renaissance” was held in Navoi region.
The symposium, organized in honor of the 584th anniversary of the great poet’s birth, brought together Navoi scholars from nearly 20 countries, including Belgium, the United States, Hungary, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Northern Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Renowned professors, members of the creative intelligentsia, and representatives of the spiritual and cultural sectors from all regions of Uzbekistan also attended the event.
The Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khayriddin Sultanov, read a congratulatory message from the Head of state addressed to the participants.
As the President noted, Mir Alisher Navoi accomplished a true spiritual feat by defending national and universal ideals under challenging conditions. He laid the foundation and comprehensively demonstrated the inexhaustible richness and beauty of the Uzbek literary language.
As a genius who created magnificent and unique works whose value has been proven over time and who made an outstanding contribution not only to Uzbek but to all Turkic literature, he truly deserves immense admiration and recognition.
We take pride in the fact that the immortal legacy of Alisher Navoi rightfully stands alongside the masterpieces of world literature.
The ideas and creative works of this great poet and thinker, who advocated for strengthening peace and friendship among nations and jointly building a better future for humanity, have gained particular relevance in today’s turbulent times.
Today, as we lay the foundation for the Third Renaissance in New Uzbekistan, we perceive the works of Alisher Navoi as an inexhaustible source of strength, energy, and inspiration. The in-depth study and promotion of this unique spiritual heritage will always remain at the center of our attention.
The main events of the symposium took place at Navoi State University.
The program began with the opening of an exhibition in the university gallery dedicated to the life and creative legacy of Alisher Navoi. The exhibition features more than 100 works of art and will remain open for a month.
The symposium participants were divided into six sections to exchange views on achievements and challenges in studying the great poet’s works. Discussions covered topics such as “Navoi Studies Worldwide: Past, Present, and Future”, “The Eastern Renaissance: Science, Literature, and Culture”, “Alisher Navoi and Global Linguistics”, “Alisher Navoi and Literary Influence”, and others.
A memorandum was signed between Imam Khomeini International University of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Navoi State University at the symposium to develop friendly relations and cooperation.
Renowned scholars, writers, and poets participated in literary evenings and creative meetings with readers.
The symposium program continued at the “Mumtoz” ceremonial hall in the city center, where the regional Hokim, Normat Tursunov, met with the event participants.
