The Heritage of Great Ancestors – the Foundation of the Third Renaissance

The Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan are holding the 8th International Congress “The Heritage of Great Ancestors – the Foundation of the Third Renaissance” in Uzbekistan.

The event is attended by heads and employees of international organizations such as IRCICA, ICESCO, TURKSOY, Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, and International Turkic Academy, as well as about 300 scientists, specialists, and researchers from 35 countries.

The events that began in Tashkent on August 23 are continuing in Samarkand. On August 24, the opening ceremony of the international forum took place at Samarkand Congress Center.

Advisor to the President – speechwriter Hayriddin Sultanov read out the address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the conference participants.

In the address, it was noted that Uzbekistan focuses on the study and research of the spiritual legacy of great ancestors. In this context, international forums held by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan are of great importance.

In particular, within the framework of the project “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World”, 70 volumes of album books have been published, which have been transferred to the most famous libraries, universities, museums, and authoritative scientific and educational centers in Uzbekistan and abroad. In continuation of this work, another ten new volumes from this series will be presented during the forum, which will also become an important cultural event, the Address of the President of Uzbekistan notes.

Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Preservation, Study and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on behalf of the congress participants.

During the congress’s opening ceremony, a video dedicated to the activities of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan was shown.

The projects and concepts of the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Museum of the Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex were discussed at the plenary session, and the projects of domestic and foreign experts were considered.

During the seven panel sessions, discussions were held on the projects of the expositions of the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Museum of the Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex.

The International TURKSOY Forum “New Renaissance: Cinema and Media in Support of Heritage” also takes place within the framework of the event. It is planned to hold discussions with representatives of the film industry of the Turkic-speaking countries on “Cinema – defender of heritage: presentation of cultural projects and initiatives”, “Global media cooperation: intercultural projects for the preservation of heritage”. A series of videos prepared for the multimedia block of the Center for Islamic Civilization, presentations of the projects “History of Bactria”, “Archaeological pearls of Uzbekistan”, “Clavijo”, “Khudoybergan Devonov and the Mennonite Germans”, “Mukhtar Avezov” will also be presented.

During the international congress, the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan will sign memorandums of cooperation with several international organizations and academies.

The Forum will continue on August 25-26, 2024.
