Today, the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva held a meeting on urgent measures to improve the environmental situation in Tashkent, with the participation of the Administration’s leadership and relevant agencies.
Deep concern was expressed regarding the level of air pollution observed in recent days. It was noted that the situation is causing justified alarm among the capital’s residents and requires immediate, coordinated action.

The Head of the Administration heard reports from responsible officials on the current state of the atmosphere, citizens’ appeals, and public proposals and initiatives. Key factors influencing the current situation and possible ways to minimize negative impacts on public health and the environment were examined in detail.
It was emphasized that in cases of violations of established norms, decisive measures must be taken against polluting enterprises. The health of citizens cannot be compromised, and this principle must be upheld equally by both the state and the business community.

Drawing on expert assessments developed in recent days on an expedited basis, Saida Shavkatovna presented a comprehensive set of proposals covering short-, medium-, and long-term perspectives – from immediate actions to systemic solutions aimed at preventing similar situations in the future.
In particular, the Head of the Presidential Administration initiated measures to strengthen environmental oversight, restrict the activities of polluting facilities, tighten construction requirements, undertake large-scale urban greening, and establish a modern air-quality monitoring system.

These measures will serve as the basis for a draft Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will be submitted to the Head of State for consideration in the near future.
