Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea took part in an online signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) on the legal status, privileges and immunities of the Institute.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Ecology Jusipbek Kazbekov, welcoming the participants of the event, noted the need for supporting international efforts to combat climate change. To this end, the leadership of Uzbekistan decided to join the Global Green Growth Institute and open its first office in the city of Tashkent among Central Asian countries.

He emphasized that the signing of the Agreement creates a legal basis for the full functioning of this international organization in the country and the opening of its representative office in Uzbekistan. Jusipbek Kazbekov sincerely welcomed Dr. Aaron Russell, the head of the institute’s representative office in Uzbekistan, and expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance and support in its further activities.
GGGI Deputy Director-General Hyoeun Jenny Kim expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for the assistance provided in the preparation and conclusion of the agreement. GGGI Deputy Director-General noted that this document creates an opportunity for the start of GGGI activities in Uzbekistan and the implementation of joint projects in ecology and environmental protection.
