The goals of women speakers of parliaments to solve global problems are common
19:14 / 2022-09-08

The 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament (14SWSP) of the Member States of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continues.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva drew the attention of the participants to the fact that various conflicts and new threats taking place in the world today are taking a threatening turn. No one can predict what kind of political and economic order will prevail in the near future.

In recent years, in almost all countries of the world, as a result of the pandemic, there has been an increase in threats in various spheres of social life, a reduction in trade-economic relations, a decrease in production volumes, and an increase in the unemployment rate.

“In the conditions of the post-pandemic crisis, the issue of uniting the efforts of the international community in stabilizing and accelerating the process of economic recovery is more important than ever”, T.Narbayeva noted. – According to reputable organizations, it was women who suffered the most during the pandemic. In particular, 5 percent of women working in the labor market lost their jobs. The resulting difficult situation in families has led to an increase in cases of family violence, which in turn caused an increase in the number of crimes and offenses.

In such a difficult situation, the united efforts of the international community have helped to improve the overall background. However, in the conditions of the still ongoing pandemic, the implementation of joint projects in this area, further improvement of legislation, international standards and norms is a requirement of the time.
