Uzbekistan and Malaysia will provide mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev met with Malaysia’s First Deputy Attorney General Ahmad Terrirudin bin Mohd Salleh.

The signing of an interstate agreement between the two countries’ governments on providing legal assistance in criminal matters became an essential event of the meeting. The parties hoped this document would contribute to further bilateral interdepartmental cooperation.

The Malaysian delegation met with the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kholmumin Yodgorov, and got acquainted with the ongoing reforms in the judicial-legal system of the country. It was noted that ensuring true independence of the judiciary and the establishment of professional judges are priority tasks.

The delegation members got acquainted with the electronic program of open and transparent evaluation of the effectiveness of the activities of judges of Uzbekistan via e-ratings and noted its benefits.
