The essence and significance of the Constitutional reform in Uzbekistan discussed in Sweden

As part of the visit to Stockholm of Uzbekistan delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev, a roundtable discussion was held at the Institute for Security and Development Policy of Sweden (ISDP) on the essence and content of the renewed Constitution of Uzbekistan.

The participants of the event were informed about the constitutional reform and the upcoming referendum, the ongoing work in the country to develop parliamentarism, ensure human rights and gender equality, as well as the development of civil society.

The provisions of the main principles of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, included in the renewed Basic Law of the country, were disclosed in detail.

Swedish experts showed great interest in the current large-scale reforms and democratic transformations in Uzbekistan and an interest in exchanging experience with Uzbek partners.
