The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur hosted a meeting dedicated to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Uzbekistan citizens living in Malaysia.

At the meeting, with the participation of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia representatives, the Uzbek side provided information on measures taken in Uzbekistan to organize safe labor migration and comprehensive support for fellow compatriots working abroad.

It was noted that 29 million foreigners visit Malaysia every year, and some of them violate local laws and regulations. It was also noted that Uzbekistan citizens are not among the violators.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish close ties to provide Uzbekistan citizens with the necessary legal and other assistance. The Malaysian side also expressed its readiness to cooperate with the competent authorities of Uzbekistan to share experience in managing temporary detention centers for foreigners.
