A scheduled session of the electoral commission of Surkhondaryo electoral district No 9 for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has taken place.

A scheduled session of the electoral commission of Surkhondaryo electoral district No 9 for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has taken place.

The session was attended by leaders of political parties and employees of mass media.

At the session, members of the district electoral commission heard reports by the chairmen of the regional councils of the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party of Uzbekistan, the movement of entrepreneurs and businessmen – the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, the Uzbekistan People’s Democratic Party and the Adolat social-democratic party of Uzbekistan on preparing for the elections.

In the process of preparing for the 4 December 2016 elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the regional councils of these political parties are paying special attention to expressing the interests of their voters. Specifically, in the presidential election campaign, the political parties have completed the gathering of signatures in support of their candidates.

The parties have conducted conferences and plenums and specified their tasks relating to the electoral process.

The work of election headquarters has been initiated, and campaigning groups have been established. In the region’s 734 electoral precincts, specific work is being conducted to form each party’s monitoring groups.

“In the region, our party has 741 primary organizations uniting nearly 26 thousand members in its ranks. At the moment, we are making thorough preparations for the elections on the basis of requirements of our national legislation. Active members of our party who are well aware of the electoral legislation are participating in this work. 10-12 member campaigning groups formed in the town of Termiz and districts are helping primary organizations in localities to express the interests of our voters. In electoral districts, knowledgeable and politically mature active members of our party are being selected as observers. All the measures being carried out in this area serve to ensure the forthcoming elections’ fairness and transparency,” says the acting chairman of the Surkhondaryo regional council of the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Alisher Ruziyev.

During the session, some other issues within the remit of the district electoral commission were also considered, and appropriate decisions were taken.
