On September 28, 2022, Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Khurram Teshabayev took part in the Economic and Trade Ministers’ Meeting of the SCO Member States.
According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, representatives of the ministries exchanged views on the current state and prospects for further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation in the SCO space. In particular, issues of liberalization and simplification of trade and investment procedures, multilateral trading system, production and supply chain, digital economy, regional trade-economic cooperation were considered.
The Uzbek side noted the importance of developing mechanisms for implementing the initiatives announced by the President of Uzbekistan and other heads of delegations of the countries at the Council of Heads of SCO Member States. These initiatives are designed to give a new impetus to the development of multilateral cooperation between the member states of the organization.
Following the meeting, a Statement was adopted by the Ministers of the SCO member states responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities to support the multilateral trading system and a Memorandum between the ministries and agencies of the SCO member states responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities on strengthening cooperation in supply chains.
The parties unanimously confirmed their intention to continue joint efforts aimed at creating a favorable environment for participants in the economic activities of the SCO member states, as well as to intensify work on relevant SCO documents on cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres.
