Khiva hosted the 9th Meeting of Transport Ministers of the SCO Member States under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan.
The delegations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and India took part in the meeting. The heads of the delegations of Russia, China, Pakistan, as well as the SCO Secretary-General took part in the event in an online format.
SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming highly appreciated Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the organization, noting the relevance of all initiatives and proposals put forward by the country's leadership in recent years aimed at developing cooperation in transport, in particular digitalization of transport processes, simplification of road and rail transport.
Following the event, the parties supported and approved the Draft Concept of Cooperation initiated by the Uzbek side on the development of connectivity and the creation of efficient transport corridors. The document is scheduled to be approved at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO on September 16 in Samarkand.
An agreement was reached on the establishment of a Special Working Group for the development of cooperation, accountable to the Meeting of Ministers of Transport.
Bilateral meetings were held with the heads of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan delegations.
