The Constitution – the legal basis for strategic reforms
17:41 / 2023-11-30

This year, the country will celebrate the 31st anniversary of adopting the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this regard, thematic events, meetings, and conversations are held in organizations, agencies, and institutions.

The Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Defense and Security held a roundtable discussion on “The renewed Constitution – the legal basis for strategic reforms” with the participation of cadets of the Customs Institute.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Akmal Saidov noted the adoption of the renewed Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the referendum held on April 30 this year, which defined the strategic goal – the construction of a democratic, legal, social and secular state, introduced the principles of social justice and unity, and enshrined constitutional foundations providing for entirely new mechanisms for protecting human rights and interests.

During the conversation, attention was drawn to the implementation, at the initiative of the President, of reforms aimed at increasing the efficiency of customs authorities using modern information and communication technologies. Several practical measures were noted in the area. It was also noted that to implement the standards and proposals of the World Trade Organization, the World Customs Organization, and other international structures into national legislation, work is being carried out to simplify customs rules, reform customs administration, further improve and increase the efficiency of control of customs authorities, and form a digital custom, which is a logical continuation of paperless and electronic customs.

At the event, listeners of the Customs Institute expressed their opinions and spoke about the importance of constitutional reforms in the lives of young people. The participants also got acquainted with the activities of the Legislative Chamber.
