An online meeting of the heads of parliaments of the countries participating in the IPA CIS, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Korea, China, Iran, Turkey, Japan and other countries on “The role of parliamentarians in strengthening international peace and trust” has taken place.
The meeting is timed to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, the 25th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, as well as the announcement of 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, based on the Resolution of the UN General Assembly.
According to the upper house of parliament, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva took part in the meeting organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The parties discussed issues of enhancing the role of parliamentarians in strengthening international peace and trust, as well as developing inter-parliamentary relations between the countries.
The participants of the meeting expressed interest in regularly holding joint events and programs for the preservation, broad promotion of a culture of peace and trust between states, agreed to strengthen international dialogue and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The final document of the meeting of the heads of parliaments “The role of parliamentarians in strengthening international peace and trust” was adopted, which provides for the active use of preventive diplomacy tools based on multilateralism and political dialogue.
