The “bridge” between Europe and Central Asia is being strengthened
13:52 / 2025-03-20

The European Union, based on its Central Asia Strategy (2019) and the European Parliament resolution of January 2024, is pursuing a comprehensive and strategic partnership with the countries of the East.

In recent years, institutional mechanisms for dialogue have been improved, and mutual trust has been strengthened. As a result, efforts to ensure regional stability, economic development, and connectivity have been upgraded.

In addition, high-level political contacts have been intensified. In 2023-2024, the presidents of Central Asian states made about 20 official and working visits to European Union countries, including Germany, France, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, and Austria. The leaders of Germany, France, Hungary, and the Netherlands visited several Central Asian countries.

Considering these trends, the first European Union – Central Asia Summit, which will be held in Samarkand in April this year, will undoubtedly be a historic event and will provide a significant impetus for the further development of interregional cooperation in the long term.
