On the eve of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Italy, a collection of works by the great Italian poet, one of the founders of the Italian literary language, philosopher Francesco Petrarch called “The Book of Songs” was published.
Petrarch is an outstanding poet who brought Italian and European poetry to an entirely new level. He stood at the origins of the emergence of a new culture of the Western Renaissance, permeated with progressive ideas of humanism.
The works of the poet, especially his beautiful sonnets, had a significant impact on world literature. The emergence and development of this genre in Uzbek poetry are also associated with the work of Francesco Petrarch.
Uzbek translators repeatedly turn to the work of the great classic, which testifies to their proper respect and love for Italian literature.
The new book, prepared for publication by the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan and published by KolorPak LLC, includes Francesco Petrarch’s philosophical work “Letter to Descendants” and the best sonnets. They were skillfully translated into Uzbek by well-known masters of the word Mahkam Makhmudov and Salim Ashur. The preface to the book was written by the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid.
This special publication will significantly strengthen literary ties between Uzbekistan and Italy, which have a glorious centuries-old history.
