In Farghona, the republican phase of “The best information-library centre - 2017” contest has taken place.In this country, large-scale work is being carried out to increase people’s interest, especially young people’s interest in books, to raise their book-reading culture and to further improve the work of information-library centres.
In the years of independence, the role of libraries in society changed completely. Innovative methods were introduced. Special attention is being paid to consistently providing new books for libraries, to creating electronic forms of scientific and educational books and literary works and to improving the provision of information-library services, making them fast and of good quality. Information-library centres are playing an increasingly important role in elevating people’s intellectual, moral and cultural levels.
A Presidential decree dated 12 January 2017 “On establishing a commission for the popularization of reading and the raising of book-reading culture and for the development of the system of publishing and distributing books” has helped to take to a new level the work being done in this sphere.
This traditional contest for “The best information-library centre” has a special role in the popularization of advanced experiences in this sphere and in the raising of the professional qualifications of specialists of information-library centres.
“Large-scale work is being done to ensure information-library establishments’ work conforms to the spirit of the current era, to further strengthen their material-technical base and to introduce advanced information-communication technologies into the sphere. Of course, today the knowledge and qualifications of specialists of the sphere are important in the popularization of book reading. This contest is significant as it is directed towards further improving the work of specialists of this sphere,” says Alisher Otaqoziyev, the director of the republican information-library centre.
In the republican phase of the contest, 14 teams competed. In this contest, special attention was given to workers’ creative approach, the work of information libraries, the drawing up of innovative projects in the information-library sphere and the popularization of book-reading.
The “Ahmad Farghoniy” team of the Farghona Regional information-library centre won. Also winners were determined in such areas as “the best specialist of information-library centres” and “the most active young specialists of the year”.
