Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Central Election Commission. The participants considered organizational issues for preparing and conducting the snap election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of May 8, 2023, “On the appointment of advance polling of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, it is defined that the snap election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be held on July 9, 2023.

By the amendments introduced by the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Electoral Code, if advance polling of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is called by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, elections are held within two months in full accordance with the Electoral Code. At the same time, the timing of the implementation of measures for the preparation and conduction of elections is defined by the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, chaired by CEC Chairman Zayniddin Nizomkhujayev, the issue of announcing the election campaign and approving the calendar plan for the preparation and conduction of the elections was considered.

It was determined that the Presidential election campaign in Uzbekistan, which will be held on July 9 this year, will begin on May 10.
