The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with TURKSOY and Hacı Bayram Veli University in Ankara, organized a presentation of the book by the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan Gafur Gulam in Turkish “Osmon To’la Yulduzlar” (“A Sky Full of Stars”), dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the poet’s birth.
The participants were welcomed by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Türkiye Alisher Agzamkhojayev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Shavkat Artikov and Vice-Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University Professor Metin Orbay.
Ambassador Alisher Agzamkhojayev expressed special gratitude to scientists and literary scholars who contributed to the event’s organization and took part in translating the book “A Sky Full of Stars” into Turkish.
At the event, with the participation of scientists and writers from Turkic-speaking countries, Gafur Gulam’s daughter Olmos Akhmedova spoke about her childhood memories and her father’s work. It is worth noting that last year, on the initiative of the Head of state, the 120th anniversary of Gafur Gulam was widely celebrated.
As part of the conference, a short film about the life and work of Gafur Gulam was shown. Participants were given copies of the book “A Sky Full of Stars.”
