The Ambassador of Belarus to Uzbekistan sums up the results of the activities
10:59 / 2024-12-22

Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich held a pre-New Year meeting with media representatives, where he discussed the key achievements of bilateral relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan in 2024.

It was noted that this year, cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan continued to develop dynamically in all areas, including politics, economics, culture, and humanitarian relations. The countries remained committed to equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the changing geopolitical situation.

The Ambassador noted that this year, intergovernmental dialogue has been actively developing, including meetings within the framework of regional organizations and integration associations, such as the EAEU.

As the Ambassador noted, many young people from Uzbekistan choose to receive education in Belarus. The numbers illustrate the popularity of Belarusian education. If in 2018, less than 100 students from Uzbekistan studied in Belarus, now there are more than 5 thousand (considering joint educational programs where they study in Uzbekistan and Belarusian universities according to the formula 2+2 or 3+1).

As part of the conference, a photo exhibition “Sovereign Belarus” was organized, prepared based on the materials of BelTA photojournalists. The correspondents focused on all spheres of life in Belarus. Each photo looks at the country’s development over the past 30 years.

This year marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for covering this topic in Uzbekistan and joint work and presented commemorative medals to representatives of the Svitanak Belarus Cultural Center in Tashkent, Olga Bobrovskaya and Nina Shubnikova, as well as journalist Innobat Normuradova, who made a significant contribution to the patriotic education of youth and preserving the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

Ambassador Leonid Marinich also informed about the upcoming elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus on January 26, 2025, and answered questions from journalists.
