A territorial training seminar has taken place in Jizzakh on issues of ensuring the effective work of precinct electoral commissions for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by the chairmen, deputy chairmen and members of precinct electoral commissions and employees of mass media. It was noted at the seminar that the work of the precinct electoral commissions was especially important in the thorough preparation and conduct of the 4 December 2016 elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Members of the public respected in the country and working in different spheres are included in the composition of 466 precinct electoral commissions formed in Jizzakh Region.

At the seminar, speeches were heard on the legal basis for electoral commissions’ work, on the financing of their work, the compilation of lists of voters, the legal system of voting processes, early voting, the role of observers in electoral processes and the role of media in ensuring the transparency of elections.

“Today’s event is of important significance to raising the knowledge of members of precinct electoral commissions about the national electoral legislation and about topical tasks relating to the preparation and conduct of the elections. Representatives of various spheres who gained a certain amount of experience from previous elections are working in the composition of the precinct electoral commissions. Pre-election events are being held effectively due to the fact that the chairmen, deputy chairmen, secretaries and members of the electoral commissions have adequate knowledge and experience,” says M.Oripova, deputy chairperson of Jizzakh district electoral commission No 4.
