Uzbekistan – Afghanistan business forum has kicked off in Termez Palace of Arts.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov addressed the forum. He noted that Uzbekistan is ready to render all possible assistance to the socio-economic development of Afghanistan, including through the joint implementation of infrastructure projects.
“The level of bilateral trade does not correspond to the potential of the two countries”, Sardor Umurzakov said. “We have every opportunity to increase the trade turnover up to $2 billion. Termez International Trade Center being created on the border with Afghanistan will contribute to the achievement of this goal”.
Head of the Administration of the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Shaker Kargar also addressed the business forum. He thanked for the traditionally warm hospitality in Surkhandarya region. Mr. Mohammad Shaker Kargar noted that the signing of the Preferential Trade Agreement with Uzbekistan is a priority for Kabul. He also confirmed the interest of the Afghan side in the early implementation of the Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway project.
