Tashkent to host EU – Central Asia High-Level Political and Security Dialogue

A videoconference has been held between representatives of the European Union and the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and Afghanistan in Belgium.

According to the Embassy, ​​the parties discussed the preparations for the next round of the EU – Central Asia High-Level Political and Security Dialogue, which is scheduled for April 27 in Tashkent.

Delegations of the European Union and Central Asian states, headed by the EEAS Deputy Secretary General and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of these countries, are expected to attend the upcoming event. This year the Afghan side will take part in the “EU – Central Asia” format meeting for the first time.

The agenda includes an exchange of views on the latest developments in cooperation in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and the prospects for closer regional integration. The main attention of the participants will be paid to the discussion of international issues of mutual interest, as well as interregional interaction on common security challenges, including violent extremism, terrorism, border management, drug trafficking.
