The European and North Atlantic Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) will organize a workshop in Tashkent on June 17-19 on aerodrome operations and safety oversight.
ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that sets international standards for civil aviation and coordinates its development to improve safety and efficiency. The Organization was established on April 4, 1947, on the basis of the provisions of Part II of the 1944 Chicago Convention. Its headquarters are located in Montreal, Canada. Regional offices are in Bangkok, Dakar, Cairo, Lima, Mexico City, Nairobi, and Paris.
According to ICAO rules, international airspace is divided into flight information areas, whose boundaries are set considering the capabilities of navigation and air traffic control facilities. One of the functions of ICAO is to assign individual identifier codes to airports around the world, which are used to transmit aeronautical and meteorological information, flight plans, and designations of civil airfields on radio navigation maps.
