Within the framework of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the SCO, representatives of the tourism industry of the organization’s member states will gather in Tashkent on May 19-20.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, a Tourism Forum “A new stage of cooperation between the SCO member states: tourism and cultural heritage” will be held on May 20 with the participation of academic and business circles, as well as representatives of the SCO tourism industry. The participants of the forum will discuss current issues of international tourism, preservation and popularization of the cultural heritage of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as the expansion of scientific-technical cooperation in tourism and cultural heritage.

At the meeting, the heads of tourism agencies will consider joint initiatives to accelerate the resumption of tourist trips, new projects and programs that increase the role of tourism as a multiplier of economic growth.

The agenda of the upcoming meetings also include the approval of the draft Agreement on the Development of Cooperation in Tourism and a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Museum Business between the SCO member states.
