The 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament of the member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continues in Tashkent.
The second day began with a discussion on gender-responsive parliaments for stability and prosperity.
The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong noted that the summit was organized at a high level, thanks to such events, attention is being paid to the problems of women, their encouragement and support.
Martin Chungong mentioned Queen Elizabeth II, emphasizing that she ruled the United Kingdom for 70 years, won respect and admiration all over the world. At his suggestion, the conference participants honored the memory of Queen Elizabeth II with a moment of silence.
The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, informed about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to achieve gender equality, protect the rights and freedoms of women, and ensure their legitimate interests. She noted that work in this direction is carried out in all spheres of the life of the state and society based on the strict principle “No woman is left without the attention of the state and society”.
