Tashkent – Samarkand hyper-speed transport communication link launched

The Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov met with the Veon Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu. The Veon Group of companies operates under the brand Beeline in Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the issues of further enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and Veon Group within the framework of the implementation of the Digital Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy.

The main attention was paid to strengthening cooperation for the implementation of projects for the development of BPO (business process outsourcing) and KPO (knowledge process outsourcing) services.

The participants noted that all conditions are being created in Uzbekistan for foreign IT companies. In particular, foreign IT companies – residents of IT Park are provided with infrastructure and tax benefits. IT Visa simplified visa system for foreign IT specialists and their family members have been introduced. The Ministry of Finance has received a proposal to relocate the specialists of Veon Group to Uzbekistan.

At the moment, with the participation of Veon Group, projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan aimed at upgrading equipment and creating new amenities for users.

The event also included a symbolic launching of Tashkent – Samarkand upgraded hyper-speed transport communication link. It will transmit subscriber traffic between the two cities at a speed of 600 Gigabits per second. The updated infrastructure will have a positive impact on all users of Beeline mobile services. This is the first provider channel with such bandwidth.

Following the event, the parties noted the high potential for the development of cooperation and expressed their readiness to mobilize all efforts to develop partnerships in information technology.
