Tashkent hosts workshop on agricultural aspects of Uzbekistan’s accession to WTO

On June 21, 2018, an experience sharing and training workshop on “Agricultural aspects of accession to WTO: the implications for agricultural and trade policy”, organized by the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Bank Group, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, kicked off in Tashkent.

On June 21, 2018, an experience sharing and training workshop on “Agricultural aspects of accession to WTO: the implications for agricultural and trade policy”, organized by the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Bank Group, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, kicked off in Tashkent.

The workshop is being attended by experts for supporting agriculture from Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, as well as more than 50 representatives of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan.

At the event, participants are studying the experience of the region’s countries in the process of accession to the WTO and execution of obligations in the sphere of agriculture, as well as will discuss key issues that the subjects of agriculture may face in the process of integration into the WTO.

According to the Ministry for Foreign Trade, during the workshop, participants will also get acquainted with the main provisions of WTO agreements on agriculture, application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as with issues of adaptation of agriculture to the norms of the World Trade Organization.

The workshop will continue its work on June 22.
