Tashkent hosts press conference on ziyorat tourism

National Press Center of Uzbekistan held a press conference on “Prospects for development of pilgrimage (ziyorat) tourism in Uzbekistan”.

On March 27, National Press Center of Uzbekistan held a press conference on “Prospects for development of pilgrimage (ziyorat) tourism in Uzbekistan”.

At the event, organized by the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, information was provided on implementation of comprehensive measures for development of tourism sector, as one of the strategic sectors of national economy, which ensures accelerated development of the regions, increasing incomes and quality of people’s life, as well as improving investment attractiveness of the country.

Participants of the conference discussed achievements in development of ziyorat (pilgrimage) tourism, namely, introduction of visa-free regime in Uzbekistan for 30 days for citizens of 64 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, introduction of pilgrim visa, issued for up to 2 months to foreign citizens who visit to make a pilgrimage, to study cultural-historical and religious-spiritual heritage and traditions of Uzbekistan, implementation of halal standards in public catering and restaurants of Uzbekistan since February 2018 and others.

It should be noted that within the framework of the first International Ziyorat Tourism Forum, Bukhara Declaration on recognition of Uzbekistan as one of the centers of ziyorat tourism was signed in February 2019.
