Tashkent hosted the Asian and the World Cups in traditional karate-do.

The competitions were organized by the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Karate-do Federation of Uzbekistan, and several ministries, agencies, and organizations.

In the Asian Cup, attended by 200 athletes from 9 countries, the national team of Uzbekistan took first place. The following places went to the teams of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

In the World Cup, the first place went to the athletes from Israel. Representatives of Lithuania and the Czech Republic took the second and third places. Uzbekistan’s athletes took fifth place after Poland.
