Tashkent hosts an international conference on Uzbekistan’s cooperation with Central Asia and Afghanistan

Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the International Institute for Central Asia, and the Regional Dialogue organization held a virtual international conference on “New trends in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy: state and prospects in relations with Central Asian countries and Afghanistan”.

The event was attended by leading experts on Central Asia, scientists, representatives of state authorities, and the diplomatic corps. Representatives of the scientific community of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Russia, China, the United States, Belgium, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, Pakistan, and other countries delivered speeches on the current issues.

Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva dwelled on new trends in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, noted the high level of current cooperation of the country with Central Asia and Afghanistan, and the relevance of the conference, voiced its goals and objectives.

Participants of the event highly appreciated the active, dynamic and multifaceted regional policy pursued by Uzbekistan in recent years. The dynamics of the development of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia were emphasized. The important role of Uzbekistan in this process was indicated.

It was noted that the creation of the International Institute of Central Asia at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to deeply study the regional process and its further development, as well as plans to hold an international conference “Central and South Asia – regional connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, the Global Educational Forum under the auspices of the United Nations, the World Forum on Youth Rights, a regional forum on religious freedom are evidence of the positive results of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy on the development of the region.
