Tashkent hosts a meeting of the Asian Blind Union

The primary mission of this organization is to protect the rights and interests of blind people, to provide them with social support, rehabilitation, and social integration, guarantee equal rights and life opportunities.

The meeting of the Asian Blind Union is being held in Tashkent on the initiative of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan. Sixty-three delegates from over 20 countries are attending the event.

“The main goal of the event is to create new jobs for the blind, inform about new technologies, provide conditions for them to play sports, discuss issues of protecting their rights”, says Ergash Norpulatov, Chairman of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan. – At the meeting, the five-year work results will be summed up, and a new head of the organization will be elected.

64,244 out of 76,020 blind people in Uzbekistan are registered at the Society of the Blind. The total number of working blind people is 2,987, of which 1,539 work in enterprises, 557 people in the Society’s system, and 1,209 people in various organizations outside the system.
