Tashkent hosted Zone 3.4 FIDE Championship of Central Asian countries.

The championship was organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent city administration and Uzbekistan Chess Federation. 50 chess players from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, as well as from Uzbekistan demonstrated their skills. Competitions were held on the Swiss system in 9 rounds.

In competitions among girls, Nilufar Yakubboyeva and Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova took the first and second places, gaining 7 points each. The third place was taken by Kazakhstan chess player Bibisora Assaubayeva with the same result.

At the men’s competition, Kazakhstan’s grandmaster Rinat Jumaboyev and our compatriot Rustam Kasimjanov took the first and second places, scoring 6.5 points. And the third place went to Nodirbek Abdusattorov with 6 points.
