At the Tashkent branch of M.Lomonosov Moscow state university, the Tashkent city stage of the “Uzbekistan is our common home” festival of friendship and culture has taken place.Representatives of national cultural centres in the capital city and state and public organizations attended the event held by the international cultural centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Tashkent city department of the morality promotion centre, the Tashkent city main directorate for culture and sports, the Mahalla (neighbourhood) public charity foundation and the Tashkent city council of the Kamolot public youth movement.
The director of the international cultural centre, N.Muhammadiyev; the chief of the Tashkent city department of the morality promotion centre, F.Mahmudkhojayev; and others said that work to preserve social stability, peace and tranquillity in the country and to strengthen its atmosphere of kindness, inter-ethnic accord and religious tolerance was given attention as a priority area of state policy.
Today there are more than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups living in peace and harmony in this country. All the necessary conditions have been created to protect their rights, liberties and legitimate interests, and for them to get education and learn professions of their choice and to observe their customs and rites and to keep their national traditions and values.
“All of us love and cherish Uzbekistan. Here the necessary conditions have been created for representatives of all nationalities to preserve their language, culture, customs and traditions, to develop them and to pass them on to future generations,” says the chairman of the Tashkent city Kazakh cultural centre, T.Halbayev.
Those gathered at the event enjoyed melodies and songs about peace, friendship, kindness and magnanimity performed by artistic groups of national cultural centres.
As part of the festival, there were exhibitions of works of visual arts, national clothes and items of craftsmanship.
