Tashkent celebrates World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day

An event on the occasion of December 31 – World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year was held at Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev in Uzbekistan. The winners of the competition on Azerbaijan 2022 were awarded.

The event was attended by representatives of the embassy of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan Friendship Society, university teachers and students, local Azerbaijanis, and journalists.

The guests laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev and honored his memory.

Director of the Center Samir Abbasov noted that on December 16, 1991, at the first session of the Supreme Assembly in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, December 31 was declared World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day.

According to Mr. Abbasov, 2022 has become a successful year for relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited Uzbekistan three times, thanks to which the level of strategic partnership has risen, and Heydar Aliyev Alley has been opened in Mirabad district of Tashkent city.

The official representative of Uzbekistan Journalists Union, well-known journalist Akbarkhon Magdiyev noted that cooperation in culture and journalism is constantly developing.

As the Executive Director of the Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Professor Erkin Nuriddinov emphasized, in 2023 Samarkand was declared the Tourist Capital of the World, and Shusha was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World by TURKSOY.

Following the event, a festive concert prepared by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center was presented.
