Tashkent celebrates Chinese New Year

The State Academic Grand Theater named after Alisher Navoi hosted the “Merry Chinese New Year” concert program.

Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Yu Jun noted that such joint cultural events further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Artists from the Chinese National Peking Opera Theater performed national songs such as “New Music of Spring”, “Fisherman’s Harvest Song”, and “Harvest Festival”. The audience also enjoyed the national musical works of this country and examples of world opera art.

New Year is one of the most significant holidays in China, and February 5-17 is declared a holiday there. People say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one. According to the Chinese calendar, 2024 will be the year of the Green Wooden Dragon.
