Uzbekistan delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Chairperson of the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor Tanzila Narbayeva, met with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya.
The parties discussed issues of eliminating forced labor in Uzbekistan, as well as combating human trafficking, reforming agriculture, institutional measures for cooperation with international structures and civil society institutions.
The U.S. Under Secretary of State praised Uzbekistan’s actions to eradicate forced labor in a relatively short period, noting that the United States maintains a positive momentum for change in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that the success achieved will strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbekistan in the global market in the textile industry.
Uzra Zeya in her speech on human trafficking congratulated Uzbekistan on reaching the second level in the controlled list, expressing hope for the continuation of these actions.
