Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva has met with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde.
The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Bank.
The World Bank Vice President highly appreciated the democratic transformations being carried out in Uzbekistan, the achievements in the social, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as the efforts aimed at mitigating the consequences of the pandemic, ensuring the wellbeing of the population and supporting the country's economy.

Anna Bjerde highlighted the achievements of Uzbekistan in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of women, ensuring gender equality and broad participation of women in the socio-political life of the country.
The World Bank welcomes Uzbekistan's efforts to eliminate child and forced labor and to improve labor standards following international standards.
The parties also discussed the proposed promising projects for the development of parliamentarism, entrepreneurship among young people and women, especially in rural areas, as well as improving the level of human capital.
