Tanzila Narbayeva attends the Women Leaders Forum

A parliamentary delegation led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva attended the Women Leaders Forum, which took place within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in Avaza.

Issues of ensuring gender equality, expanding women’s role and rights in society were discussed at the forum.

The systemic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to achieve gender equality were particularly noted. The country’s experience is recognized as an advanced model for parliaments of other countries.

It was emphasized that efforts to ensure gender equality in Uzbekistan are carried out within the framework of the National Strategy 2030, and this approach is entirely consistent with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Legislative acts and initiatives aimed at combating domestic violence and supporting women in need of social protection were also highly appreciated.

In her speech at the forum, the Chairperson of the Senate put forward several proposals to strengthen the dialogue between women leaders of Central Asian countries and increase the effectiveness of practical cooperation.

In particular, the importance of increasing the activity of women in social, economic, and political life, establishing the exchange of best practices, increasing their participation in the decision-making process, and strengthening cooperation between women entrepreneurs was noted. Specific proposals were also put forward for the implementation of the Avaza Action Program at the regional level.
