The UN Headquarters in New York hosts the 65th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
The session is aimed at achieving gender equality and empowering all women. The agenda includes issues on ensuring the active participation of women in decision-making in social life and elimination of violence.
The event is attended by representatives of member countries, UN agencies and non-governmental organizations of the world, accredited by the Economic and Social Council.
Women's empowerment issues were considered at the session.
This year, Uzbekistan is chairing the Women Leaders' Dialogue in Central Asia. Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva addressed the session.
It was noted that the Central Asian countries, based on the principles of inclusiveness, focuses on the protection of women's rights, freedoms and interests. Progress has been made in preventing violence and harassment against them, and in ensuring their participation in decision-making processes.
Information was provided on the position and achievements of Uzbekistan on the issues under discussion, including measures to support women, improve their social status and expand participation in state and public administration.
The 65th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women will continue until March 26.
