There are 4 million 900 thousand voters in Tajikistan. 238 candidates claimed 63 seats in the lower house of parliament.

Voting took place in 3450 polling stations, in 30 embassies and consulates abroad. This is the fifth parliamentary election in Tajikistan held after the signing of the Peace Agreement in 1997.

According to forecasts, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan led by President Emomali Rahmon received the highest mandate. Six more parties took part in the elections.
