Swimming: Ilya Sibirtsev sets a record in Doha

At the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, members of the Uzbekistan national team are competing for qualifications for the Paris 2024 Olympics among more than 2,500 athletes worldwide.

On February 13, a member of Uzbekistan national team Ilya Sibirtsev took part in the 800-meter freestyle qualifying swim.

Uzbekistan’s swimmer crossed the finish line in 7:53:87 seconds and set a new record for this distance.

However, according to the results of this championship program with a prize fund of $5.6 million, the athlete couldn’t advance to the finals.

Two days ago, Ilya became the owner of the national record in the 400 meters with a time of 3:50:9.

On February 16, another member of Uzbekistan national team Eldorbek Usmonov will compete in the butterfly swim.

Three days ago, Igor Myalin, who defended the country’s honor in diving at the World Championships, became the strongest swimmer and advanced to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The World Championships will end on February 18.
