On August 23-25, 2024, a delegation from Surkhandarya, along with representatives from Tashkent, Bukhara, Khorezm, and Samarkand regions, participated in the Asia Islamic Tourism and Trade Expo in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur.
Surkhandarya is one of the ancient regions of Uzbekistan, and it has a huge tourism potential. Foreign guests are particularly interested in the unique historical and archaeological sites, picturesque natural landscapes, and national handicrafts of the region.


At the exhibition, which was attended by tourism sector representatives from about 50 countries worldwide, Deputy Hokim of Surkhandarya region and Head of the Regional Tourism Department Jurabek Turayev gave detailed information about the ancient region’s tourism potential, in particular activities carried out to develop pilgrimage tourism and conditions for tourists.


Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Karomidin Gadoyev made a presentation on the country’s tourism potential and spoke about the large-scale reforms carried out in tourism, the consistent development of pilgrimage tourism, and ongoing activities to create favorable conditions for pilgrims.
